Control Your Mindset Like a Thermostat and Control Your Environment

Feb 20, 2024 | Tip for a Terrific Tuesday

It’s time to learn how to control your mindset to control your environment. Sometimes when we don’t feel good and don’t feel happy, we want to blame others for how we feel.

The truth is we have to control our own happiness. You know, you could either be a thermometer or a thermostat, and the thermostat controls the environment.

A thermometer just goes up and down. So when things happen during the day, are you acting like a thermometer?

Are you a thermostat where you are controlling your environment? All of this comes down to your mindset. What you constantly think about will affect your personal and professional relationships. If you constantly get up every morning, and you are thinking about negative thoughts, then your mind is going to move toward those negative thoughts.

There is something in the brain, which is a filter, called the reticular activating system, and it acts much like a water filter, and it filters out good and bad things.

You see, when we wake up in the morning, we have about 90,000 thoughts. Most of which are negative, but you have to control whether you move toward the negative or the positive with your mindset. So it’s just like if you put dirty water in that filter, or do you put clean water in that filter?

What you think about is what’s gonna control how the rest of your day goes. So why not get up in the morning, and at least think about things that you want to do that are positive for that day, so that your mind can move toward positive thoughts rather than negative thoughts.

Your happiness really comes down to you and how you control your mindset. So why don’t you start in the morning getting up, looking in the mirror, and thinking about the things that you want to do that are positive. Close your eyes and lock your mind in on those, and see if you can have a good day, because you are after all in control.
