Sometimes we are afraid to take on new responsibilities because of our fear of failure. Sometimes we don’t know how to get started because we don’t know how to initiate the first step. At other times our lack of success or procrastination is because we don’t have a plan. As I’ve said to you in the past, in order to succeed you must first write down your goal, and that goal must be specific. It can’t be as general as, “I want to lose weight.” You have to state specifically how much weight you want to lose and by when. A goal must have a time of when it’s due and be measurable. Otherwise, it is not specific. Research shows that when goals are specific people are more likely to accomplish them. Therefore your weight loss goal should be stated as, “I’m going to lose 20 pounds by the end of the next three months. So why don’t you start today? Think about something that you want to accomplish, write it down, and make sure it is specific. So that you have an increased likelihood of accomplishing that goal.
